This week’s episode of Black Oxygen features Frances Huntley-Cooper, Wisconsin’s first and only elected African-American mayor in the state’s history. Frances came to Wisconsin in 1973 for school and she thought she’d leave when she graduated. She didn’t leave - she ended up making Wisconsin home. In her time in Wisconsin she has served in many leadership roles at the city, county, state, national and international levels. In this episode we talk about what kept her in Wisconsin, representation, being a DNC delegate, the NAACP ACT-SO program, and being a Black leader in Madison.
